Today was a no trade day for me however I allocated more equity into cash the past few days. I am at 90% cash now due to the overextended valuation of the S&P 500. I tax harvested some positions for a tax advantaged move before year end 2026. Using small loses to lower my taxable income. Mid to late November is when I will reposition my portfolio for a long-term hold. 70% equity and 30% cash. A wise trader knows that a no trade day does not equate to a bad trading strategy. We know that the more trades you do does not equal to a more profitability rate. I have a feeling that September may not be as bullish as we expect it to be based on probability and historical data on the indexes such as $SPY dating back from 2018.
I understand the consequence of holding too much cash as you forgo the opportunity of a market rally. Never time the market. You just have to ask why is $SPY at $770 when some mid caps and large caps are stagnant and possibly declining slowly. Lower lows and lower highs! Why are very unprofitable and negative EPS companies spiking when earnings are as horrible as it can be. It is just hope that retailers are falsely entering too early. I know timing the market is not good but you have to be reasonable when investing or trading.
Look at the job data and inflation data. What will CPI data be in a few days? Will there be market manipulation and will the current politics boost the sentiment of the US economy. Are these jobs mostly from the build out of AI data centers rather than white collar jobs that are massively laying people off due to the use of AI?
Look at today's $ASTS earning. Not good but people are just fantasizing on short term profits. Long term is fine but you must not forget valuations and fair value when buying stocks for short-term or long-term.
I will not equity heavy but asset heavy. I will be swinging options along the way. I have to be careful of what may arise. Cracking is appearing on critical economic and monetary data.
I will be posting less here starting today but will be posting on my discord chat box. Please note that I am extremely busy. I am considering taking a break soon from trading as I may have hit my quota for the year. I am not going to pay so much to Uncle Sam if I am taxed almost 40% for both federal and state tax. I discovered the hard truth in trading. Sometimes you earn too much that you have to take tax advantage trades to offset or lower your taxable income. I need to be careful as I don't want any 2026 gains to follow me to 2027.
Swing ideas
No AI trades. We want to see $CRWV and $NBIS earnings.
I sold off on my $ORCL due to the potential implication of a negative reaction to earnings on these AI trades. Just remember this company over borrowed for AI data centers and we are not sure the potential future it may entail.
My goal is get $IREN at $30-32
$CRWV at $65
as a semi-short term trade.
